Stop 21 - The Spirit
The Pleasant Valley Baptist Church initially constructed a church on this site in 1891, thanks to land donated by the Davenport family. In 1927, when the church sought funds for a new building, the Camarillo brothers stepped forward with a generous offer: they purchased two acres of vacant church land for $10,250. This enabled the construction of a larger church building, completed in 1930.
This act was a testament to the spirit of collaboration between the Catholic and Baptist churches in town.
Today, the building is home to Chapel City Church, where worship continues in this historic space.
